The Fourth of July and all Days Independent….
#Freedom
‘Tis for freedom
We have been set free
Stand firm then
And burdened not be
By the yoke then
Of slavery.
Slave to fear
Ridicule and slight
Slave to the voices
Accusatory, shrill in delight
Voices that deplore and divide
Voices of prejudice
And then some, of pride.
You were called to be free
None, in these bondages tight
Free to be, free to breathe
To live, my heart
My body, my life alight.
We are free,
Shake loose, then
These the suppressions, the chains
Enslaved and incarcerating
Masquerading
As ardour, the passion
That doth seduce us.
