ON THAT DAY

Today. And on that day.

One week. That is how long it has been.

This evening though, the heavens opened up and the skies poured down.

All week long it had been hot. Sultry and humid. Dripping in endless bouts of sweat.

Tuesday afternoon as we bid our farewells, the smell of flowers mingled with the incense sticks on bare earth, a slow breeze had wafted through the dipping sun. It was but for a brief moment, but in the midst of the suffocating stupor of the summer heat, it was a soothing moment of reprieve.

For a week too, there has been this, the flurry of family and friends, days filled with the process of moving on. While today, not quite ‘normal’, it is that, and yet, not quite.

All of us, in life as we go through the motions of the everyday, I am reminded that even in the day of the blistering sun and now, in the thunderous storm of the evening, that there is indeed much to be thankful for.

When no one seems to be your side, You are there.

When so many reached out, with words of love and comfort, You are there.

When darkness overcomes, You are there...

“I said to my soul, be still and wait without hope, for hope would be hope for the wrong thing; wait without love, for love would be love of the wrong thing; there is yet faith, but the faith and the love are all in the waiting. Wait without thought, for you are not ready for thought: So the darkness shall be the light, and the stillness the dancing.” ~ T. S. Eliot

“One day You'll make everything new, Jesus
One day You will bind every wound
The former things shall all pass away
No more tears
One day You'll make sense of it all, Jesus
One day every question resolved
Every anxious thought left behind
No more fear
When we all get to heaven
What a day of rejoicing that will be
When we all see Jesus
We'll sing and shout the victory
One day we will see face to face, Jesus
Is there a greater vision of grace
And in a moment, we shall be changed
On that day...” ~ Matt Redman
