LOVE, INTERRUPTED (A SONNET IN JUNE)

 Love, interrupted
(A sonnet in June)

I awoke, tears on my breath
Muddied pools, pale, the crimson stained;
Rain falls, a rising scent, life, death
Skies rumble, unheard, the darkening dread
Night lingers still, of words misspoke, misspent
Day ponders still, the grey blue tint
Breath rising, vapid, tedious, spent
A decade since, the maladies mint.
Much before this, these the balmy sweat
Furrowed brow, burdened grief
Much more this, these the longings yet
Beholden, bequeathed, an unending brief
Summer, the sky falls, sweet muggy rains
Bare blotches, the pale reminiscence remains.
