“…ground reports of the continuing ethnic violence that has gripped Manipur from the first week of May. As the country finally discusses what is happening in Manipur, the buffer zone at Phaileng has witnessed firing almost every day in the past week. I have reported from here before and mentioned how this is a crucial border between the hill district of Kangpokpi and the Imphal valley, considering many big Kuki villages lie across the border.

There have been repeated attempts by armed Meitei groups to breach this border in the past two months but they have been pushed back by Assam Rifles stationed here along with other paramilitary forces.”

Let me share this again:

There have been repeated attempts by armed Meitei groups to breach this border in the past two months, but they have been pushed back by Assam Rifles stationed here along with other paramilitary forces.

This is a fact.

Repeated attempts.

By armed Meitei groups.

Pushed back by Assam Rifles and other paramilitary forces.

Happening even now, even today.

Armed forces standing guard at periphery villages, resisting, resisting repeated attempts by armed Meitei groups.

Do ask yourself why.
No ifs.
No buts.
No but whatabouts.
And if you don’t have any questions at all even after this, there really is nothing to say.

Just so you can see what the countryside looks like and imagine for a moment, what it means to face a militant stand off every day.
Every.
Day.
